A small Paisley rug sold for £1,600. A Turkey Carpet sold for £4,600

Some carpets and rugs have magic qualities. That is not to say they are actually magic and can fly, but they hold magic properties which bidder are more than happy to pay for. Perhaps one of the most bizarre “magic carpet” discoveries we made was in a property near Salisbury. The client was looking to downsize, primarily to the size of the garden, and contacted us for help and advice. After family discussion we organised the collection of furniture, ceramics and other items. However, it was the carpet turned upside down in her drawing room as it was threadbare, which she offered her gardener/handy man which put a smile on her face. Thankfully he decided to decline her kind offer of a free carpet, and it was entered into one of our auctions where it sold for over £10,000. A truly magical result.

All of our auctions use live internet bidding platforms to ensure that every lot, whether it is worth £20 or £500,000, reaches the widest possible market and sells for the best price possible. In the run up to an auction we receive 100’s of emails requesting further information for lots in the sale. Attached to these email replies, we regularly send well over 1,000 digital images, such is the huge interest generated in our auctions.
