The lifetime collection of an engineer from Bournemouth is going under the Charterhouse hammer in their auction in Sherborne on Friday 20th January. “John S Oliver was a well-known professional engineer who had a broad range of interests from manufacturing model aeroplane engines through to collecting pedal cars and building kit cars and we are delighted to receive instructions to sell his collection on Friday 20th January. ” Commented Matthew Whitney. “Sadly he passed away recently and the family, who live near Bournemouth, instructed us to auction the remaining items in his collection. “As an engineer, John Oliver made Tiger model aeroplane and model car engines commercially and they are now highly sought after by model enthusiasts. In the Charterhouse auction there are over 40 model engines in various sizes from 0.25cc to 2.5cc estimated from £100 to £600, numerous model aeroplanes with wing spans of up to 8 ft and three tether racing cars including a very rare twin engine model estimated at £800-1,200.In addition to his small models, Charterhouse will also be selling the John Oliver Austin Pathfinder pedal car estimated at £2,000-2,500 and his Austin J40 pedal car estimated at £800-1,200. They will also be selling his JBA Falcon SR Sports kit car, which he lovingly built over a couple of years, and is estimated to sell for £6,000-7,000.Charterhouse is now accepting entries for their specialist auction of classic and vintage cars being held in conjunction with The Great Western Classic Car Show at The Royal Bath & amp; West Showground, Shepton Mallet.
