Super Sapphires at Charterhouse Auction
A large multi-coloured sapphire ring is estimated to sell for £10,000 in the Charterhouse two day specialist auction of silver, jewellery and watches at their Sherborne Salerooms on the 22nd & 23rd July.
“This crossover ring certainly sparkles and pops in the light.” Commented Richard Bromell. “It would not look out of place at a cocktail party, but at the same time, is eminently wearable when popping down to the supermarket for a loaf of bread and a pint of milk!”
The ring was bought for the owner as a present by her late husband from a Christie’s jewellery auction in New York nearly a decade ago.

Made in fashionable 18ct white gold, the ring is set with two octagonal step cut sapphires – one blue and one yellow – each of approximately 4ct. Whilst many sapphires have been heat treated, the blue and unusual yellow sapphire set in this ring have their original colour and unusually not been heat treated to embellish their colour.
