A single owner collection of rare Martin Brother’s pottery was a sell out in Sherborne at the Charterhouse auction of Decorative Arts on the 25th of June.

“Martin Brother’s pottery continues to be highly sought after and we had a large number of collectors contact us before the auction not only from across Great Britain, but also from France and America.” Commented Richard Bromell.

Top lot in the collection was an unusual double wally bird group. Having previously been restored, it sold for £27,300 to a buyer on the Isle of Wight.

The collection of pottery came to auction from a West Country deceased estate and had been on display for decades in a 1930’s cabinet worth just £20. Overall, the collection totalled just under £45,000.
