A rare George III silver coffee Biggin is valued at £4,000-£6,000 in the Charterhouse two day specialist auction of silver, jewellery and watches on Wednesday 30th April and Thursday 1st May

“This coffee Biggin would certainly have graced the table in a country house and has always been an expensive and desirable way to make your coffee!” Commented Richard Bromell.

Of classical form, it was made by Paul Storr, one of the country’s leading 19th century silversmiths, in 1803.

This coffee Biggin, along with various other items of silver from trays to a wine funnel, were taken to a valuation day at The Long Street Salerooms, Sherborne, in a vintage suitcase where they had been hiding away for over a quarter of a century.

Wrapped up in old newspaper, they were all valued, catalogued and entered into this Charterhouse specialist auction.

Further entries of silver, jewellery and watches are now being invited for this huge two day auction.
