A porcelain racehorse with a jockey up, understood to be a unique piece of Beswick, is estimated to sell for £1,000 in the Charterhouse three day auction of Beswick, Doulton, wine, port, whisky, coins, medals, militaria, stamps and other collectors items in Sherborne.

“The market for some Beswick has softened over the past few years but this racehorse, almost certainly unique, has already attracted a good deal of interest” Commented Richard Bromell.

The racehorse, understood to be called War Lace, was commissioned by its Somerset owner Mrs Elizabeth Dudgeon from Beswick around 1959-60. Mrs Dudgeon, who later married again becoming Mrs Elizabeth Ellis, had the horse trained by Jim Ford of Wincanton.

Further entries of Beswick, Doulton, wine, port, whisky, coins, medals, militaria, stamps and other collectors items are now being invited for this huge three day auction on 28th, 29th & 30th May at Charterhouse.
