Robert Mouseman Thompson of Kilburn, a 1920s adzed oak library or smoking chair, having a rare panel back, with original leather seat and back, 64.5 cm wide, 94 cm high, 86 cm deep
Provenance: From the vendor – It was once part of an original collection of furniture designed by Robert ‘Mouseman’ Thompson in c.1923 for the Officers Mess of the Green Howards Regiment in Richmond, North Yorkshire. In the early 1950s the Officers Mess was refurbished and in doing so the Mouseman chairs were gifted to a handful of the former senior officers. The owners Grandfather, Col. C. N. Littleboy, who had previously been Colonel of the Regiment, was given two of these Mouseman chairs, one of which survives and is now for sale for the first time.
