Mouseman Collection Comes to Charterhouse

A collection of Mouseman furniture and other items from a Somerset collector are going under the Charterhouse hammer in their auction of Antiques & Interiors on Friday 2nd August.

“The owners are looking to move and downsize from their Somerset cottage where they have been for nearly 25 years.” Commented Richard Bromell. “It is a bit of a wrench for them, but they are being practical and realistic, safe in the knowledge the new owners will enjoy their beloved Mouseman as much as they have.”

Mouseman furniture has always been popular. Made in the workshops of Robert Thompson in Kilburn, North Yorkshire in oak, all the pieces carry the legendary signature of a carved mouse.

There are over 30 pieces of Mouseman in the collection. The couple have been amassing Mouseman for nearly 50 years, having started in the 1970s.

In the collection, there are two chests of drawers, dining and other tables, a set of chairs, a sideboard, a library armchair, standard and table lamps, a corner cupboard, a bureau, a stool and many other items.

Overall, the Mouseman collection is estimated to sell for up to 30,000.

Charterhouse is now accepting further entries for their busy programme of specialist auctions including jewellery, silver and watches in August, Mouseman and other furniture on 2nd August followed by coins, medals, stamps, model cars, trains and other toys also in August and for their next specialist classic car and classic motorcycle auctions.

Richard Bromell and the Charterhouse Team can be contacted for specialist advice and valuations at The Long Street Salerooms, Sherborne, 01935 812277 or via rb@charterhouse-auction.com
