A large single owner collection of military medals, estimated to sell for £35,000-40,000, is being sold by Charterhouse in Sherborne Thursday 28th May.
“The owner was a professional soldier during his life and ended up as a high ranking officer.” Commented Richard Bromell. “In retirement, his interest in medal collecting took off and he spent nearly 30 years amassing the collection.”
The owner, who lived on the Somerset/Wiltshire border, specialised in collecting medals from The Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers. There are nearly 100 lots of medals which date from the mid-1850’s through to the early 21st century.
The medal collection forms part of the three day auction at Charterhouse, The Long Street Salerooms, Sherborne, with a vast single owner collection of automobilia on Wednesday 27th, medals, coins, stamps and toys on Thursday 28th and then antiques, interiors, clocks and wine on Friday 29th May.
