Nearly one hundred 20th century dolls, from a Somerset collection, could sell for £10,000 when they go under the Charterhouse gavel in their auction of dolls, model trains, cars and other toys on Thursday 27th November in Sherborne.
“When you mention a collection of dolls you generally think of the porcelain ones from the late 19th century onwards.” Commented Richard Bromell. “However, this collection has focussed mainly of felt and other similar rare dolls from the early to mid-20th century.”
Dolls in the collection include Lenci, Norah Wellings, Chad Valley, Kathe Kruse and other manufacturers. From characterful googly eyed Art Deco dolls through to dolls from the hugely popular Magic Roundabout children’s TV programmes in the 1960/70’s onwards are all being sold.
Charterhouse is now accepting further entries for their busy programme of specialist auctions with coins, medals & stamps, wine, port & whisky, model trains, cars & dolls and pictures, prints & books.
