A silver entrée dish and cover, which has been in the same family for the past 217 years, is included in the Charterhouse three day auction of silver, jewellery, watches and antiques.

“The family have decided to let new custodians enjoy this George III silver entrée dish, especially as it has interesting history for them to research.” Commented Richard Bromell.

This George III silver entrée dish is engraved with a presentation inscription to a distant relation of the owner. The inscription reads “April 1809 The Legislature of Grenada voted five hundred pounds plate to The Governor Major General Frederick Maitland in proof of their Approbation of his Administration.”

Estimated to sell for £2,500-3,500 hopefully it will remain in the next family for another 200 years.
