A large Edwardian silver table centrepiece is one of the star lots in the Charterhouse two day specialist auction of silver, jewellery and watches in their Sherborne Salerooms on the 22nd & 23rd July.

“It is certainly an impressive piece which has survived over 120 years in great condition.” Commented Richard Bromell. “I suspect this is down to having avoided the attention of an overenthusiastic cleaner who could have worn much of the detail away with regular cleaning.”

The table centrepiece has an oval cut glass bowl above the silver base applied two dancing figures on an oval base embossed ribbon ties, scrolling foliage and floral swags.

Made by renowned Sheffield based silversmiths Walker & Hall in 1903 it weighs a whopping 2.5 kg, measures 35 cm high and is estimated to sell for £2,500-3,500.

Richard Bromell and the team at Charterhouse, The Long Street Salerooms, Sherborne are available for valuations on single items, collections and complete house contents on 01935 812277 or via rb@charterhouse-auction.com
