A rare Royal Doulton pattern book, dating to the 1920s, is being sold by Charterhouse in Sherborne on Friday 31st January.
“There is an amazing selection of original drawings and designs complete with annotations regarding colours and noting artists at the height of the Art Deco era.” Commented Richard Bromell.
The book illustrates a vast number of designs, and in particular from the Royal Doulton Titanian range. Still with fresh and vibrant colours as they have been kept out of the sun, some pages are however, a little grubby, no doubt from having been referred to and thumbed over the years.
There are pages of designs for figures, vases, bowls, dinner, tea and coffee wares. The book is expected to sell for £500 – £1,000 in the Charterhouse three day January Auction with Silver on the 29th, Jewellery & Watches on the 30th and this book on the 31st with Antiques & Interiors.
Richard Bromell and the Charterhouse Team can be contacted for valuations from single items, collections and complete house contents at The Long Street Salerooms, Sherborne, 01935 812277 or via enquiry@charterhouse-auction.com.
