A 1960s vintage Rolex wristwatch is estimated to sell for thousands of pounds in the Charterhouse two-day auction of silver, jewellery, and watches on 30th and 31st October.

“The Rolex Submariner was bought new by the owner in 1967, when Hair the love-rock musical came out, with his first pay packet.” Commented Richard Bromell. “Working as an engineer he wanted a watch which would be durable and practical, which it was.”

Moving forward 57 years and the watch is showing its age. With a replacement strap, heavily scratched glass and needing a service, it is a rare ‘meters before feet’ Rolex Submariner.

Being one of hundreds of lots of watches, silver and jewellery, viewing for the auction starts on Monday 28th October at The Long Street Salerooms, Sherborne, with many lots ideal as Christmas presents. All lots, with live internet bidding, are available on charterhouse-auction.com
